Why Slushie?
We are often the organizers and trip planners: That one friend responsible for texting, inviting and then following up with the receipts for everyone to Venmo each other. We wanted to make saving for things easy on ourselves, so everyone can share the responsibility together. We came up with the idea of creating a social contract between friends to hold everyone accountable, and built a tool to make that possible, so we all actually get to do the cool stuff we say we’re going to.
How does the social contract work?
We’ve developed simple terms for friends to play nicely with each other; everyone thrives when there’s clarity around agreements.
Do I have to connect my bank account?
Instead of directly connecting to your bank we use a secure data transfer software called Plaid that safely delivers only the information we need to make transactions. It’s likely you already use Plaid! It is trusted and used by Venmo, Expensify, Acorns, SoFi and more.
Why another app?
Sure, there are apps that allow you to send money, but we couldn't find a tool that would allow us to incrementally save together for goals. Think about putting away $30 a month for a trip with your friends and all agreeing to who is going and when. We wanted shared accountably.
